Weekly Photo Challenge: Textures

In response to the WordPress Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Textures

This week, focus on the tactile element of the objects you shoot, whether it’s one distinct quality — softness, smoothness, graininess, or any other texture you find interesting — or a combination of several within one frame.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Satisfaction

In response to the WordPress Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Satisfaction

The satisfaction of going out and getting a Photo you are happy with 🙂

Rhoscolyn Rocky Coastline
Gwenfaens Pillar – Rhoscolyn, Anglesey As legend has it, St Gwenfaen from whom the church at Rhoscolyn and medieval well nearby are named after, took refuge on top of this rock stack after fleeing her hermitage from viking raiders. As the tide came in and threatened to cover her rocky refuge, the angels descended and carried her away. Rhoscolyn is a village located on Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales. It is just over five miles south of Holyhead and is the most southerly settlement on the island. The name Rhoscolyn is said to mean The Moor (Rhos) of The Column (colyn), referring to a pillar which the Romans put up to mark the edge of their territories. Rhoscolyn lies in the south western corner of Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales, looking out into the Irish Sea. The defining feature of the landscape here is the dramatic, rocky coastline were there are numerous inlets and coves. Anglesey is an important study area for some of the most ancient rocks on our planet and Rhoscolyn is one of the island’s finest geological locations. It offers a spectacular display of complex, folded rocks which were old long before the mountains of Snowdonia even existed. Anglesey has long been, and continues to be, the focus of much interest, world-wide, by research scientists and students alike.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Security

In response to the WordPress Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Security

Security is the degree of resistance to, or protection from, harm. It applies to any vulnerable and/or valuable asset, such as a person, dwelling, community, item, nation, or organization.

Emotional security is the measure of the stability of an individual’s emotional state. Emotional insecurity or simply insecurity is a feeling of general unease or nervousness that may be triggered by perceiving of oneself to be vulnerable
wikipedia

Emotional insecurity is how I’m feeling right now as Mom was rushed into hospital nearly a month ago and it’s still touch and go whether she will survive, so not much of an interesting blog off me again this week as it’s hard to concentrate, but need to keep busy.

Medieval Knight
Ancient security – Medieval suit of armour. The word armour was introduced into use in the Middle Ages as a borrowing from the French. It is dated from 1297, as a “mail, defensive covering worn in combat” from Old French armoire, itself derived from the Latin armatura “arms and/or equipment” with the root arma “arms or gear”.

Sunbeam Talbot Darracq
The Anglo-French STD (Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq) combine collapsed in 1935. The French Talbot company was acquired and reorganised by Venetian-born engineer Antonio Lago and after that, the “Talbot-Lago” name was used internationally. On the home market the cars still bore the Talbot badge they had carried since 1922, which was when, in France, the “Talbot-Darracq” name had given way to “Talbot”. At the same time, the British interests of Talbot were taken over by the Rootes Group and the parallel use of the Talbot brand in France and Britain ended. Talbot-Lago cars sold in Britain were now to be badged as Darracqs.

The path starts off wide and quite even, but becomes rocky towards the second half, and then crosses loose scree. Weekly Photo Challenge: Earth

In response to the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge:Earth

Apologies for not posting over the last few weeks, due to illness in the family I’ve been distracted from doing anything on-line.

The Earth is the only planet in our solar system not to be named after a Greek or Roman deity. The Earth was formed approximately 4.54 billion years ago and is the only known planet to support life.

About 71 percent of the Earth’s surface is water-covered, and the oceans hold about 96.5 percent of all Earth’s water.

It’s fortunate that i only take photos on Earth so here’s my watery attempt for this weeks Earth challenge …….
