Day Out In Rhyl 2022 part 6

My 6th day out of 2022 was another local walk around Rhyl Promenade while a carer sitting service was with my Dad. We have had several storms in the last few weeks and the weather wasn’t looking great for my few hours out, fortunately it didn’t rain but I had to deal with Hail and the Sandstorm being blown from the beach in the intermittent gale force winds.

Day Out In Rhyl 2022 part 5

My 5th day out of 2022 was quick and local again while a carer sitting service was with my Dad.

We are in the middle of two Storms at the moment Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice, so I thought i would take the chance to get out, unfortunately the tide was out so not much chance of catching some crashing waves.

I ventured to East Rhyl coastal defence scheme or Splash Point just a few miniutes away, 20 months, £28 million later the sea defences have been improved protecting 1,650 properties from flooding after the 2013 floods submerged parts of Rhyl.

Day Out In Rhyl 2022 part 3

My 3rd day out of 2022 found me staying local again while a carer sitting service was with my Dad.

A grey day was forecast, so I headed to the beach which is about a 2 minute walk before deciding my plan of action, mmm tide was in and some waves, ideal for some long exposure photography, pity it’s a sandy beach and no rocks, going to have to try and use the groynes -a shore protection structure built perpendicular to the shoreline of the coast, unfortunately the tide was going out so my fun was short lived.

My second day out of 2022 found me staying local again and going for another 2 hour walk while a carer sitting service was with my Dad.

Weather forecast proved to be wrong again and i ended up with a mostly blue sky which isn’t always favorable for photography, but still way better than the rain 😁

I walked down Rhyl beach towards the harbour again seeing if there was anything i had missed from last weeks walk, here are a few of the images i captured.

Photo Day Out 2021

My first photography days out in over 1.5 years.I was lucky enough to have my first day out with Mike, we headed off to Snowdonia National Park north Wales, one of our favourite photographic locations an hour away, unfortunately the weather wasn’t as good as the forecast predicted with low cloud staying around the mountain most of the day, we had to work at trying to get some good shots with Mike driving us to different locations. Thank you Mike for all the driving.

My second day out the following week the weather was actually very nice and made the photography easier.
Often the bad weather actually makes for a more interesting photo.

I have included some of the shot of both days.

Day 1

Some old ruins and wonderful trees near the old roman road leading past Pentre Farm, Nant Ffrancon valley Snowdonia
Yup the intrepid photographer mike climbs up the river bank near Cwm Idwal, a very popular attraction for visitors interested in walking, climbing, fishing and geology.

Day 2

Dolbadarn Castle is a fortification built by the Welsh prince Llywelyn the Great during the early 13th century, at the base of the Llanberis Pass. The castle was important both militarily and as a symbol of Llywelyn’s power and authority. The castle features a large stone keep, which historian Richard Avent considers the finest surviving example of a Welsh round tower.

Dolbadarn Castle panorama including the town of Llanberis and edge padarn lake
Anglesey Barracks in Dinorwic Quarry, comprised two rows of 11 dwellings, served as accommodation for quarrymen, they would spend the week based in the barracks working in the quarry, leaving their homes very early on Monday morning and returning Saturday afternoon. Conditions were spartan. Each two-room unit had a living area with a fireplace and a sleeping area for four men. Facilities were scant no running water, toilets or electricity. Public-health inspectors closed down these barracks in 1948.
The Dinorwic quarry is a large former slate quarry was once the second largest slate quarry in the world, located between the villages of Llanberis and Dinorwig in North Wales Backdrop is Snowdon the highest mountain in Wales, has been described as – probably the busiest mountain in Britain.
